Barbara Goodman (née Smith; March 3 1928 - July 24 2015) was an American artist known for her large expressive oil paintings and pastel work. Her subjects were mainly landscapes of the Berkshires in Massachusetts and Monhegan Island in Maine.
“ My landscapes are images of the air, light and natural forms that surround my house in Massachusetts. I am interested in the way edges are transformed in landscapes as influenced by mist, diffused light and sun. Each of these elements, experienced for a few moments, must be intensified and translated so that it satisfies the artist and is felt by the viewer.“
